Black Shark 4 Review
Design and Display
The design of the Xiaomi Black Shark 4 is somewhat different from designs that fans are used to with phones in the Shark series. The design is more of that of a regular smartphone with hints to show that it’s also a gaming smartphone and there is a reason for this. It is so as to make the phone appealing to both regular users and the gamers.
The rear panel of the device is a near plain rear covering with a gradient design, which is home to the rear cameras, the Shark emblem, and the black shark branding.
Its screen is a 6.7 inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 2400, a density of approximately 395 PPI, a 720Hz touch sampling rate, and a 144Hz refresh rate.
Remember that the smartphone is a gaming one and as such there are shoulder buttons which can be mapped to the game controls and allow you more screen space. The phone manufacturers stated that there are now improved shoulder buttons with a magnetic power lift tech. This makes the buttons more palpable. To further improve the gaming experience, there is a pressure-sensitive display.
The smartphone is available in three colours which include Magic Black, Black, Blue, and Silver.
Let us now take a look at the camera set up of the device. The rear camera set up comprises of the following; a 48MP primary camera with an aperture of f/1.8, an 8MP ultrawide camera with an aperture of f/2.2 and a 120˚ field of view, and a 5MP macro camera with an aperture of f/2.4. This rear camera set up is able to record videos at 4k @ 60fps.
The selfie camera is a single 20MP camera with an aperture of f/2.0, which can record videos at 1080 @ 30fps.
Hardware and Software
In charge of the performance train on the Xiaomi black shark 4 is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 processor. Other performance facilitators include an Adreno 650 GPU taking care of the graphics, RAM options of 6GB/8GB and 12GB, as well as storage options of 128GB/256GB.
The mobile phone runs on a non-removable 4500mAh Li-Po battery. The interesting thing about the battery capacity of the device is that it supports a 120W fast-charge mechanism. This promises to get the phone battery from 0% to 100% in just about 14 minutes and 50 seconds now that is simply wonderful.
More so, there is a two-layer liquid cooling system incorporated into the device so as to reduce the heat that goes with heavy gaming and charging. Beyond that, you can also get a fan accessory called the FunCooler 2 Pro to have your phone really cool.
For software, the device features the Joy UI 12.5 user interface on top of the Android 11 operating system.
For connectivity, the device boasts of a 3.5mm headphone jack, WiFi, a USB Type-C 2.0 port, low-energy Bluetooth 5.2, as well as NFC support.
Enthusiasts are also pleased to know that the smart phone supports 5G internet connectivity. This means that tasks that require internet connection can be done at 5G speeds and that is just awesome.
